Chalet’s “Icy” Coloured Bases
As I did not know what to call these Chalet pieces, I thought my only option was to just wing it! So, this article refers to nine (as of time of writing) different Chalet forms of different designs that share a very unusual colour combination of amber or olive green and a very translucent, icy blue. Their colour placement is dissimilar to the way colour was used in other 2-toned Chalet pieces. In these nine pieces, the icy blue can also be found in the casings and base. And if the piece had a pedestal base – just in its base.
Chalet’s “Icy Olives”

This unusual colour pairing has been found in both common and rarer forms. These pieces are found either unmarked or etched “Chalet Canada” or “FASCINATION PAR C.M.”

An unmarked “butterfly”:
This A8 is etched “Chalet Canada.” Its “ice” is just in the pedestal base.

Also etched “Chalet Canada” is this “3 clover” style ashtray:

This ashtray is etched “FASCINATION PAR C.M.”
Although a rare style, it has been found in other colours without an “icy” base also with this Chalet retailer’s signature.

Once again, the blue is only in its footed base:
On left, same form, same base etching but an “olive no ice.”
This “icy olive” centerpiece is unmarked.
The “iciness” is again restricted to its 2-footed base:

It is fitting that it is double etched with both company’s signatures. Full circle.
